Vonage is a global cloud communications company headquartered in Holmdel, New Jersey, and owned by Ericsson since July 2022, where it runs as Ericsson's Global Communications Platform business. Its Communications APIs (formerly Nexmo) provide programmable SMS, the omnichannel Messages API (SMS, MMS, RCS, WhatsApp, Viber, Messenger), Voice, Video and Verify, alongside Network APIs (SIM Swap, Number Verification, Identity Insights) built on CAMARA standards. Australian SMS is sold pay-as-you-go at a flat EUR 0.04969 per message (about AUD 0.079) with no volume tiers and no monthly minimum. Vonage Australia Pty Ltd is listed as a certified telco for ACMA's SMS Sender ID Register, and Vonage requires all Australian alphanumeric sender IDs to be registered from 1 July 2026. Its Core API (SMS/Voice) line holds ISO 27001, SOC 2 Type II, CSA STAR and a HIPAA attestation. Campaign tools such as broadcasts, segmentation and A/B testing come from the separate Vonage Conversational Commerce product (formerly Jumper.ai), not the SMS API itself. In October 2026 Ericsson flagged Vonage as a turnaround priority, with new CEO Christophe Van de Weyer tasked with cutting costs and reaching profitability.
